This list consists of two main types of Forums that can be adapted to WordPress. The first are the plugins, all of which directly integrate the forum within WordPress. The second is standalone forum software, which have plugins that allow features of the Forum to be added to Themes.

Forums are the oldest form of social media on the Internet, the bbs was around before the Internet as we know it today and before my time on the ‘net as well. I first started using forums about 14 years ago, when the only rule was not to upset the moderators of the forum…ohhh, the good’ol days.

Message boards do take a lot of time and work, they are typically are not instant traffic building solutions; you must participate, 1-3 hours daily, several posts a day, allowing your reputation to build without making yourself look like spammer.
