WP Plugin: Change or Modify a Blogs Front-Page

Filed under: Wordpress — TheDoc @ 10:32 am

We either own one or have seen Blogs setup within a directory, allowing the website to modify the front-page of the website. With a nifty Plugin by ilfilosofo.com you can now modify the front-page of a domain using Wordpress, while still allowing Wordpress to have control over the front-page. The Filosofo Home-Page Control Plugin can also be used on Blogs, which have been installed within the root directory of the domain.

Why modify the front-page of a Blog?
With so many different types of blogs, the reasons why seem endless. Some general needs may be a Warning Page, or the need for a different Page within the Blog to be set as front-page; like the About Page. Maybe the Blog is part of other services within the same domain, such as products being sold, forums, advertisements, and so on. Whatever the reason is, the Filosofo Plugin can help where other Plugins may have failed.

Stop Comment Spam - Wordpess Plugin

Filed under: Wordpress — TheDoc @ 8:04 pm

Blog Comment Spam is an on going problem for all Bloggers using Wordpress. With a handful of spam plugins for Wordpress, mostly filter types, it seemed logical to hunt down a Wordpress Plugin, which uses a security word to verify human posters.

A quick search on Google for “comment+spam+wordpress+plugin+image” returned exactly what was needed. Listed #3 was a link to Peter’s Custom Anti-Spam Image Plugin for Wordpress, which has the anti-spam plugin what I was looking for.

The hacked up plugin does not require ImageMagick, a bonus in my eyes. Also, the displayed font can be modified giving you control over how easy or complex it is to read the security image.

The plugin installed quickly and most importantly it worked. Take a look below to view the plugin in action then jump over to Peters Useful Crap Blog and download the plugin.
